The DeMotte Christian Schools community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jorie Rottier, a member of the Class of 2025 whose life was tragically cut short following a multi-vehicle crash in Jasper County.
According to preliminary information released by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred at approximately 12:17 p.m. on June 8, 2026, along State Road 10 near County Road 1100 West in DeMotte. Authorities responded after receiving multiple emergency calls reporting a serious crash involving several vehicles.
Investigators reported that a Ford Fusion driven by a Wheatfield resident struck the rear of a Mini Cooper operated by 19-year-old Marjorie “Jorie” Rottier of Lowell. The impact forced the Mini Cooper into the opposite lane of travel, where it collided with an oncoming Ford F-150. The Ford Fusion then continued eastbound and was involved in a second collision with another vehicle.
Despite all occupants reportedly wearing seat belts and airbags deploying during the crash, Jorie sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Several other individuals involved in the collision suffered injuries and were transported to regional trauma centers for treatment. Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to assist at the scene, while adverse weather conditions prevented the use of air medical transport.
The investigation remains active with assistance from the Jasper County Coroner’s Office and the Indiana State Police.
