The community of Mpumalanga is mourning the tragic loss of Godfrey Khoza and Vigo Khoza, who lost their lives following a devastating vehicle accident in the Crocodile River near Mbombela, formerly known as Nelspruit.

According to police reports, witnesses alerted authorities during the early hours of June 7, 2026, after observing a Haval SUV leave the roadway, crash through a fence, and plunge into the crocodile-infested river. Emergency search and rescue teams responded swiftly, locating the submerged vehicle and launching a recovery operation.

Police divers entered the water and confirmed that two individuals were trapped inside the SUV. Using specialized equipment, rescue personnel successfully recovered the vehicle from the river, and the occupants were later identified as Godfrey Khoza and Vigo Khoza.
