A serious multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 caused major disruption today after a chain-reaction collision led to significant delays, lane closures, and a large emergency response.
According to early reports, several vehicles traveling northbound were involved in an initial collision that quickly escalated into a multi-car pileup. The sudden impact caused additional vehicles behind the crash site to collide, creating a larger secondary crash and bringing traffic to a standstill during a busy travel period.
Emergency responders, including state police, fire crews, and paramedics, arrived quickly at the scene. Injured individuals were assessed on-site, with some transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment. Officials have not yet released details on the total number of people injured or the severity of their conditions.
Authorities immediately implemented traffic control measures, closing multiple lanes of the interstate to allow first responders to operate safely. The closures resulted in heavy congestion stretching for miles, with drivers experiencing long delays and significant backups throughout the area.
Tow trucks and highway maintenance crews were deployed to remove damaged vehicles, clear debris, and restore the roadway. Investigators are continuing to examine the cause of the crash, reviewing factors such as traffic flow, speed, weather conditions, and potential driver error, along with available camera footage and witness statements.
Motorists were urged to avoid the area, follow detours, and exercise caution due to ongoing emergency activity and unstable traffic conditions near the scene.
As cleanup and investigation efforts continue, officials expect additional updates once lanes are fully cleared and normal traffic flow is restored.
